Gas Top-Up & Regas

Low refrigerant is the most common reason an aircon blows warm — but topping it up blindly hides the real problem.

Overview

What this service covers

An air conditioner is a sealed system — it should never simply "run out" of gas. When cooling drops off, low refrigerant is usually a symptom of a small leak, so we always check for the cause before recharging.

Our technicians locate and address leaks, then charge the system with the correct type and precise amount of refrigerant for your unit. Overcharging or undercharging both shorten compressor life, so we measure rather than guess.

What's in the job

Performance check

We measure current cooling output and pressures to confirm whether low gas is really the issue.

Leak detection

Joints, coils and flare connections are inspected so we fix the cause rather than just topping up.

Correct refrigerant

We charge the exact gas type your system requires — R32, R410A or R22 — never a cheaper substitute.

Precise charging

Refrigerant is weighed and charged to the manufacturer specification for efficient, reliable cooling.

Compressor safety

Correct charge protects the compressor from the strain that causes early, expensive failures.

Final test

We re-check pressures and output temperature so you leave confident the cold air is back for good.

Signs You Need It

When to call us

  • The unit runs constantly but the air is only mildly cool or warm.
  • Ice or frost forms on the piping or indoor coil.
  • Cooling fades gradually over weeks or months.
  • A previous quick top-up did not last very long.

Questions

Good to know

Why does my aircon keep losing gas?
A sealed system should not lose refrigerant unless there is a leak. We check for leaks first so a top-up actually lasts, rather than needing repeating every few months.
Can you tell which gas my unit uses?
Yes. We identify the correct refrigerant from the unit specification plate and charge accordingly — mixing gas types can damage the system.
Is a top-up or a full regas better?
It depends on the fault. Where there is a leak we repair it and often evacuate and recharge fully; for minor loss a measured top-up may be enough. We advise honestly on site.
